There's a small radio station somewhere in rural Japan. Maybe a mountain town, maybe the coast. You found it while wandering through Roam FM, and now you're listening to a late-night DJ talking quietly in Japanese over a jazz instrumental.

Good feeling. But something's missing: you're "in Japan," that's all the app could tell you. Which part? What's the weather like right now? No idea.

1.3.3 is the update that fills that in.

The earth got closer

The globe looks different. We pulled the camera in and switched to a higher-resolution map — coastlines, mountain regions, island clusters, all actually visible now instead of suggested.

It sounds minor. It changes the feeling of using the app more than I expected.

Exact coordinates, not just countries

Before this update, Roam FM knew a station was somewhere in Japan, or Brazil, or France. Now, for stations with coordinate data, the marker lands at the actual location.

A station in Kyoto shows up in Kyoto. A coastal station in Brittany shows up on the Atlantic shore. A mountain FM in the Swiss Alps shows up in the Alps.

If you've used Roam FM to drift between places while working, you'll notice. You're not tuned into "a Japanese station" anymore — you're tuned into something broadcasting from a specific dot on the map.

The weather there, right now

We added local weather and temperature for each station's location.

It's a small thing, but it's the one people keep mentioning. Late-night radio from a rainy city in Japan while it's bright afternoon where you are. A morning show from somewhere that's 34°C and sunny. The numbers make the distance feel real.

Stable in the background

Roam FM is meant to run all day without you thinking about it — ambient sound for focus, for long work sessions, for the kind of listening where you forget the app is open. This update makes that more reliable. Less memory, more stable playback over long stretches.

Open it in the morning. Forget it's there.

Next time you're in the app, try landing somewhere you've never been. Check the coordinates. Look at the weather. Then just listen.
